D-lactide is one of the configurations of lactide. It is formed by dehydration polycondensation of two molecules of D-lactic acid.
Its appearance is white needle or rod like crystal. The melting point is around 96~98 °C, and the specific rotation is 285°~300°.
Its physical properties are basically consistent with L-lactide. It is mainly used to synthesize poly D-lactic acid or copolymers.
