Racemic lactide (DL-lactide) is a mixture of equal amounts of L-lactide and D-lactide. It appears as a white crystalline solid with a melting point of 122~130 °C. Its main function is to synthesize poly(DL-lactic acid) (PDLLA) and its copolymers.
